My annual Sydney show for 2012 is coming up and opening night is Friday 23rd March. Ive been madly painting through the festive season on a completely new style, really enjoying this one, the content is really fun for me and close to my heart and whilst hoping it will be well recieved it doesent matter because its what I really want to paint…I have paid tribute to retro Australian surf culture as well as some American icons in rock and hollywood celebrity as well as a generous sprinkling of cars and bikes in a pop art style , all of the works are 100% hand painted. I have also painted a series of my classic flower paintings as a flip side to the show.   The image shown is 80x160cm titled “Mask.. Always a big Hendrix fan, I created a montage of symbols that define his image for me,.. his guitars, cars, military jacket, Marshall amps (also his middle name) his obsessive hairstyle and his face, finally the fretboard of the upside down stratocaster making the mask of a man adrift without a guitar in his hands. Jimi had an unfortunate upbringing in black America in the fifties and when god graced him with a gift and a guitar he grabbed it with both hands believing he was nothing without it. My latest work is included in a group show at Gallery One on the Gold Coast starting 14th of August its been exciting putting this body of work together as they are super large paintings the largest ones are 3600x1200mm I really thrive on the bigger works and I enjoy the impact of large scale painting Ive also maintained a high quality to finishing these works dedicating as much time as was needed to complete them properly, have a look at the press release from the Gold Coast Bulletin and check out the show on the Gallery One website if you cant make it or have a look at the images on my Facebook page.

In collaboration with Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery, one of my paintings has been donated to an auction in Manly Sydney to help raise funds for the Manly Womens Shelter. The dinner and auction was well attended at the beautiful historic St. Patricks Seminary that overlooks Manly beach. TVH Gallery is very much a part of the north shore community and although a Queenslander I too am part of that community having sold and exhibited my work there for over ten years. The successful bidder has opted for a commission piece, shown below, its titled ‘Bush breeze series size1000x1600mm.

Every year I donate paintings to the Mater Foundation Little Miracles fundraiser. This one is titled ‘Lure of the sea’ (1100x2200mm).

It will be auctioned at the Little Miracles ball to be held on June 25. The ball is a huge night with funds raised to continue ongoing health and research programs for the benefit of all.
